Job Description

The primary role of the Senior Foreperson is to oversee and manage a team of workers in an architectural outfitting setting. This involves ensuring that all safety procedures and regulations are adhered to, including the application of work permits and regular checks on housekeeping and safety equipment.

The Senior Foreperson must also ensure that all standard operating procedures comply with specifications, quality standards, and statutory and regulatory requirements. This includes studying repair or conversion requirements defined in specifications, inspecting jobs at site, and clarifying requirements with project managers or ship officers.

In addition, the Senior Foreperson assists the section manager/project manager in preparing the work plan, delegates jobs to supervisors, and plans manpower required for jobs according to budgeted man-hours provided by project managers.

Resolve problems encountered by supervisors and manage coordination between different trades and sections. Raise or approve issue passes for materials and equipment required for jobs accordingly. Issue foreman chits to other relevant sections/shops.

Prepare necessary sub-contractors requisition forms and seek formal approval from section manager/deputy section manager/assistant section manager.

Monitor work of sub-contractors to ensure quality and workmanship conform to company standard. Track and report daily work progress to section manager/deputy section manager/assistant section manager or project manager.

Actively observe, monitor, and train subordinates within their capacity. Recommend relevant training courses for workers who require necessary upgrading of skills.

Inspect work done and obtain superintendent's or ship officer's/engineer's approval.

Any other assigned duties and responsibilities.

Requirements
  • NTC 2/NITEC in Marine Engineering, Architectural Technology, or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience in marine architectural outfitting.
  • Able to read technical drawings and manage work teams.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
