Job Title: Quality Assurance Laboratory Specialist

The key role of the Quality Assurance Laboratory Specialist is to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results by performing analytical testing and data recording activities.

This involves working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with quality specifications and standards.

The incumbent will also be responsible for executing the plant environmental monitoring program, as well as calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.

A key aspect of this role is communication and collaboration with team members, site management, and between functions/shifts to ensure effective problem-solving and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical tests/checks to ensure that incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods meet agreed quality specifications.
  • Routine quality control related testing (e.g Physical/Chemical/Instrumental Tests) and other analyses as required.
  • Operate, maintain, verify/calibrate lab equipment.
  • Raise non-conformance and support quality investigations to ensure proper closure of corrective and preventive action.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to conduct investigations for customer complaints.
  • Perform risk assessment and decision making for raw materials and finished goods based on test result vs specification within lead time.
  • Perform data entry and maintain document traceability.
  • Review and maintain test methods, work procedures/instructions.
  • Execute environmental monitoring program.
  • Perform overtime/shift to cover vacancies/vacations, including weekends where required.
  • Make timely communication to relevant stakeholders to avoid delays.
  • Provide quality audit support.
  • Implement cGMP in daily work activities.
  • Safe handling of equipment, instrument, tools and materials. Understand hazards, adhere strictly to risk control measures and utilization of PPE.
  • Perform basic care and housekeeping of work area. Maintain 5S standards.

This role may involve supervisory, coaching, and career-development responsibilities as assigned by site management.

The Quality Assurance Laboratory Specialist should be cross-trained in other areas for business continuity and flexibility as required by site management.

Requirements:

  • Diploma, NITEC, Higher NITEC Holders with minimum 1-2 years experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting strongly preferred.
  • Prior knowledge in Gas Chromatography a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft software applications (Words, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
  • Experience in data system such as SAP a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Able to speak, read and write in English.
