The Team

Our global tax function is based in the Netherlands, with the Wholesale Banking tax team in Asia consisting of three staff members based in Singapore, reporting to the Head of Tax, Asia. We are now seeking to replace one of our Vice Presidents to support our Wholesale Banking business, based in Singapore and reporting to the Head of Tax, Asia.

Main Responsibilities

  • Providing tax advisory support for Wholesale Banking activities in Asia, with assistance from team managers, if needed.
  • Approving new product proposals and tax-driven structures, researching tax implications and collaborating with the front office, other ING departments, and external tax advisors.
  • Advising Business Units on tax implications of deals, including withholding taxes and treaty benefits.
  • Managing transfer pricing policies and documentation, handling BEPS Pillar 2, and ensuring transfer pricing documentation is in place for all locations.
  • Coordinating discussions with Group Tax and stakeholders on regional/global recharges and being the single point of contact for questions related to such charges.
  • Reviewing and commenting on tax clauses in agreements with clients.
  • Implementing and testing tax process controls, including Sox controls, in Asia.
  • Assessing Client Tax Integrity Risk as part of the KYC process and advising on tax issues in case of liquidation or setting up entities.
  • Providing tax advice and reviewing agreements for ad-hoc projects, such as setting up JVs.
  • Staying up-to-date on tax developments in Asia, assessing their impact, and communicating to CFOs/Businesses to mitigate additional taxes.
  • Providing tax advice to local CFOs on tax compliance, audits, litigation, and tax risk management in Japan, Korea, and China.
  • Reviewing quarterly IFRS tax figures reported to HO for Japan, Korea, and China to ensure Group Tax objectives are met.
  • Reviewing Singapore Tax Returns and quarterly IFRS tax figures.

Your Profile

  • A graduate with a recognized tax or accounting qualification and international tax experience, preferably in a taxation role with another Bank.
  • At least 10-12 years of working experience in the taxation field.
  • A good academic background, technical and analytical skills, confidence in dealing with senior management and front office staff, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is essential; fluency in Mandarin is an added advantage, especially for China tax matters.
  • Prepared to travel up to 5%.
