Principal Mechanical Design Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Specialist to lead a team of designers in the development of detailed mechanical systems for construction and tender documents.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce high-quality, accurate drawings for mechanical systems.
  • Define project scope and identify potential issues to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Evaluate quotations and bid documents to guarantee alignment with project requirements.
  • Create comprehensive design reports to inform stakeholders.
  • Manage the construction drawing management process, ensuring all drawings are updated and compliant.
  • Analyze and verify calculation reports to support the design process.
  • Review and validate design and construction drawings against industry standards and client specifications.
  • Approve major equipment purchase requisitions and ensure procurement aligns with project needs.
  • Coordinate external design tasks across disciplines.
  • Deliver design handover sessions with clients and contractors for seamless project execution.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in detail design of Mechanical Systems (ACMV, Chilled water plant, Building Services, Cleanrooms, etc).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and other mechanical design tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HVAC systems, piping, pressure vessels, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
