About the Role:

EOS invites applications for a Climate Modeling Researcher position to work on a funded project developing high-resolution heat stress maps assessing urban heat island effect and public heat risk in Singapore. Key responsibilities include investigating datasets, applying machine learning techniques, coordinating with collaborators, organizing workshops, communicating with funding agencies, leading manuscript drafting efforts, and supporting related research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate datasets from various sources and apply machine learning techniques for hyperlocal downscaling to assess heat stress across Singapore.
  • Collaborate with researchers to ensure seamless research progress.
  • Design and implement climate modeling frameworks to simulate heat stress patterns.
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders and prepare reports ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
  • Lead manuscript drafting and publication efforts to contribute to high-impact journals.
  • Support related research initiatives within Assoc Prof Steve Yim's research team contributing to broader projects in climate and environmental health.
Requirements:
  • A Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science/geography/meteorology/environment.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R.
  • Experience in machine learning for climate applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
