Assistant Chartering Manager Job Description

As a key member of our team, the Assistant Chartering Manager will play a crucial role in identifying commercial opportunities and executing voyages in assigned regions. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and pursue commercial opportunities that align with company goals.
  • Execute voyages efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of cargo while minimizing costs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, and vessel owners.
  • Analyze market trends and freight movements to inform commercial strategies.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure seamless chartering execution.
  • Prepare accurate voyage estimates and support charter party negotiations.
  • Monitor charter activities and provide regular performance updates.
Requirements
  • Educational Background:
  • Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in dry bulk chartering or cargo operations (Supramax/Handymax segment preferred).
  • Skills and Qualifications:
  • Solid understanding of chartering practices, shipping documentation, and charter party terms.
  • Strong numerical ability and analytical mindset.
  • Capable of performing under pressure in a dynamic work environment.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
