Pastry Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Pastry Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Pastry Sous Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    1. Maintain standards set by the Head Pastry Chef in relation to food preparation and quality.
    2. Act as a mentor to the kitchen team responsible for pastries and desserts.
    3. Prepare and produce varying quantities of bread, pastries, cookies, desserts, and other baked goods according to recipe and customer request.
    4. Develop ideas for new pastry dishes.
    5. Ensure efficient storage, labeling, and rotation of all ingredients and finished products.
    6. Ensure all food is prepared in line with standard recipes to maintain food costs and product consistency.
    7. Ensure all kitchen staff follows safe working practices.
    8. Covering all duties required of the Pastry chef in their absence.
    9. Communicate daily with purchasing to control food costs, yield management, and ensure accuracy of all purchasing.
  • Requirements:
    1. Proven experience as a Pastry Sous Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen.
    2. Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, and dessert plating.
    3. Culinary certification or formal pastry training preferred.
    4. Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
    5. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
    6. Strong communication and leadership abilities.
    7. Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP or equivalent).
  • Working Conditions:
    1. Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    2. Standing for extended periods and working in hot environments.
    3. Fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen setting.
