Restaurant Host/Hostess Job Description

The Food and Beverage Service Associate plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional guest experiences at the restaurant. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing friendly and efficient food and beverage service according to hotel standard operating procedures.
  • Greeting and farewelling guests and colleagues in a courteous manner.
  • Assisting colleagues and guests efficiently and professionally.
  • Having extensive knowledge of menus to effectively service products.
  • Offering menu options, advice, and taking orders.
  • Providing drinks before, during, and after meal service.
  • Remembering guest preferences to extend personalized service.
  • Taking accurate food and beverage orders and inputting them into the Point of Sales system.
  • Anticipating guest needs.
  • Verifying guest satisfaction with each course served.
  • Using guest names appropriately and communicating them to restaurant colleagues and managers.
  • Serving food in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Arranging and maintaining side stations, continually stocking each station before and after every shift.
  • Maintaining polished silver and glassware.
  • Marking tables for food and beverage orders to ensure proper delivery.
  • Ensuring all products served are accounted for on the final bill.
  • Clearing tables between courses throughout the dining experience.
  • Delivering checks and reports to the appropriate place at the end of the shift.
  • Adjusting service to suit guests' requests and personalizing interactions.
  • Engaging in upselling and adding value.
  • Relaying any guest complaints to management.
  • Ensuring work efficiency in dishwashing, pantry, and service preparations.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety in food preparation and service areas.
  • Aligning individual performances with Accor values – Guest Passion, Trust, Sustainable Performance, Spirit of Conquest, Innovation, and Respect.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A certificate or diploma in hospitality or a related field, or a minimum of 6 months hands-on experience in a food service position with a similar operation style.
  • Retail or guest interaction experience.
  • Knowledge of food and/or beverages (personal interest/professional).
  • Fine dining experience is an advantage.
