Academic Researcher Position

The National University of Singapore Faculty of Law is seeking to appoint a talented and ambitious individual as an Academic Researcher. This is a unique opportunity for a promising researcher to develop their skills and contribute to the academic community.

As an Academic Researcher, you will be part of a dynamic team that values excellence and diversity. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct research in law and related fields, with a focus on producing high-quality work that contributes to the field.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong academic background, preferably with a First Class or very good Second-Upper Honours Undergraduate LLB degree from a well-regarded law faculty. You should also have a demonstrated capacity to produce high-quality research evidenced by published academic work or student papers that have received academic prizes or recognition.

The faculty welcomes applications from candidates who have carefully reflected on their motivations for pursuing an academic career and can clearly articulate a research agenda. We encourage prospective candidates to build relevant experience before applying, whether through legal practice, employment in related fields, or postgraduate studies.

As an Academic Researcher, you will have the opportunity to participate actively in faculty events, including presenting papers in the Faculty Research Workshop or other suitable avenues. You will also be expected to utilize your reduced teaching load to develop your research skills with the support of faculty mentors.

At the conclusion of the two-year period, and provided that you are performing satisfactorily in teaching and research, you would be expected to pursue studies towards a doctorate, after which you will return to the Faculty and be assessed for appointment as an Assistant Professor on the tenure-track.

Requirements
  • First Class or very good Second-Upper Honours Undergraduate LLB degree from a well-regarded law faculty.
  • Demonstrated capacity to produce high-quality research evidenced by published academic work or student papers that have received academic prizes or recognition.
  • Clear articulation of a research agenda.
  • Relevant experience through legal practice, employment in related fields, or postgraduate studies.
