Equity Research Analyst Job Description

The role conducts equity research and fundamental stock selection analysis to provide investment recommendations to the portfolio management team and internal clients, assisting with the management of equity portfolios.

The role will be part of a team of generalist equity analysts covering global equities.

The role requires strong analytical and financial modeling skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Conduct screening of stock ideas, generate ideas, perform bottom-up fundamental analysis, and conduct due diligence on companies to make investment recommendations in-line with the team's investment processes.
  2. Apply a bottom-up fundamental approach to equity research.
  3. Carry out due diligence on companies, conducting interviews with company management, competitors, suppliers, and customers where possible.
  4. Prepare financial models and written investment recommendations incorporating financial analysis and qualitative due diligence.
  5. Communicate investment ideas to the portfolio management team.
  6. Conduct ongoing due diligence and monitoring of portfolio companies.
  7. Monitor sector, market, and economic conditions, assessing their impact on portfolios.
  8. Assist portfolio managers with the management of equity portfolios.
  9. Provide investment advisory services to internal clients where required.
Qualifications & Skills Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Additional professional certification, e.g., CFA preferred.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years' experience of fundamental equity research on the buy-side or sell-side.
  • Experience in researching US stocks, especially stocks in the technology sector preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling experience, backed by a strong understanding of valuation and accounting methodologies and principles.
  • Strong knowledge of investing and financial markets, particularly in the equity asset class.
  • Intellectual curiosity & honesty.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
