About the Role

Civica UK Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and organized Library Assistant to join our team in Singapore. As a Library Assistant, you will play a vital role in promoting good reading habits among students and supporting the school library's operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and circulate library resources efficiently to students and other library patrons.
  • Shelve library materials and maintain accurate cataloging and shelving standards.
  • Catalogue and process new materials promptly to ensure they are ready for borrowing.
  • Develop and implement promotional materials and displays to support the school curriculum and library program.
  • Conduct library programs and activities to engage students and promote literacy.
  • Generate regular reports on loans, overdue items, fines, and other collection-related statistics.
  • Provide excellent customer service to library patrons, addressing their queries and concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized library environment, including tidying the library and ensuring accurate shelf signage.
  • Follow up with students and staff on overdue, damaged, or lost books, and work with stakeholders to manage damaged or lost materials.
  • Participate in stocktaking and weeding of library materials to ensure the collection remains relevant and up-to-date.
Requirements
  • 4 GCE 'O' level passes, including English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with students and teachers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Open to learning to operate the Library System, with training provided.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Reasonable physical fitness, as stooping, bending, lifting, and reaching are required for picking up and shelving books.
