Job Title: Acquisitions Editor

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Acquisitions Editor to join our team at WORLD SCIENTIFIC PUBLISHING CO PTE LTD. As an Acquisitions Editor, you will play a crucial role in acquiring new book and journal projects, working closely with authors, academic professionals, and researchers to identify and develop new content opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acquire book and journal projects through effective networking and communication with authors, academic professionals, and researchers.
  • Develop and implement strategies to acquire new content based on the company's focus areas, working closely with the Publishing Director and Subject Leaders.
  • Coordinate the editorial process, including planning, controlling, and carrying out editorial functions, and ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate with freelance editors on certain projects, ensuring high-quality output and meeting deadlines.
  • Work effectively on ad-hoc book projects with tight timelines, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Requirements:
  • Good Honours/Post-grad Degree in economics, finance, business, political science, or related social sciences disciplines.
  • Strong networking skills with authors, academic professionals, or researchers.
  • Ability to work independently, possess initiative, creativity, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work effectively on projects with special requirements and shorter timelines.
  • Bilingual with strong command of English and Chinese, preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years in a similar capacity, or fresh graduates with flair for communication, networking, and content acquisition.
