Job Role: Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable professional to join our team as a Research Assistant. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about delivering high-quality histopathology research resources to support impactful cancer research.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting research blocks, constructing tissue microarrays, curating TMA blocks and clinical data, and providing histological services to members of our team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with clinical research coordinators, tumour board leaders, sub-specialty pathologists, tissue repository staff, and pathology diagnostic lab staff to identify suitable consented cases.
  • Verifying consent status and retrieving sample accession numbers using pathology systems (EPICS, REDCAP).
  • Working with our research pathologist to collect research blocks, assist in tissue processing, sectioning, and staining for quality control before inventory and storage.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, applicants must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Experience in histopathology, tissue handling, or TMA construction is an advantage.
  • Proficiency with pathology information systems (EPICS, REDCAP, ePAS) preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Good interpersonal skills for liaising with multiple stakeholders.
  • Commitment to research ethics and safety standards.
