Key Responsibilities:

  • Uncover and write about restructuring moves, M&A manoeuvres, and other strategic initiatives by listed and private companies in Southeast Asia and Australia.
  • Maintain a strong network of contacts across the region, including banks, funds, corporates, advisers, and regulators.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the local political landscape, family ties, and other factors that influence business outcomes in Southeast Asia and Australia.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in journalism or a financial institution, with a proven track record of reporting and writing skills.
  • Strong regional knowledge of Southeast Asia and Australia, particularly in the areas of credit, special situations, and corporate finance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Familiarity with local politics, family ties, and other factors that influence business outcomes in Southeast Asia and Australia.
  • Fluent written English and the ability to file quickly and accurately.
