The Senior Video Journalist will create custom content for Our Grandfather Story's verticals and related social platforms. We're seeking a creative-minded producer who is passionate about digital media and native advertising. Candidates should be interested in what makes content shareable and how people communicate online.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn all aspects of the creative process: generating ideas, shooting, editing, and publishing. Candidates should be proactive, motivated, and independent workers.

  1. Provide leadership, guidance, and feedback to the team, supporting the team lead (e.g., mentoring junior video journalists and interns in scripting and editing; guiding interns in their development).
  2. Participate in ideation and review of branded pitches, ensuring alignment with brand vision and objectives (e.g., collaborating with the microdoc lead and content strategist).
  3. Research and pitch fresh, relevant content ideas and video concepts for OGS's social media pages.
  4. Produce, direct, and shoot videos ranging from documentaries to interview talk shows and hosted segments.
  5. Collaborate with video editors to shape and refine videos during post-production.
  6. Measure and analyze content performance to inform future strategies using data-driven insights.
  7. Conceptualize and execute content ideas for branded campaigns.
  8. Manage uploads through Facebook and YouTube publishing processes.
  9. Develop amplification strategies to maximize content distribution across channels.
  10. Write social copies and create social assets for publication.

Requirements:

  1. Experience with camera handling and lighting setups.
  2. Prior experience in video editing is a plus.
  3. Interest in telling local stories, documentaries, and explainers.
  4. Detail-oriented and organized.
  5. Ability to meet deadlines.
  6. Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
