Job Title: Vehicle Maintenance Specialist

Job Description:

This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and vehicles within a maintenance facility. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The primary duties of this role include initiating equipment services and repairs, writing repair orders, and maintaining customer rapport and records. Additionally, the specialist will coordinate with shop foremen and supervisors on job priorities and communicate job status to customers.

Key responsibilities also include ascertaining mechanical problems and services by listening to customers' descriptions of symptoms, clarifying descriptions of problems, conducting inspections, taking test drives, checking vehicle maintenance records, and examining service schedules.

The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and have experience with asset management and electronic corrective maintenance programs, preferably Maximo.

Physical requirements include the willingness and ability to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to safety regulation maximums, as well as perform physical activities such as heavy lifting, climbing, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold.

Maintenance Records Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Initiate equipment services and repairs

  • Assemble and analyze data from various sources to identify trends and make informed decisions

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (e.g., mechanics, engineering)
  • Minimum four years' experience in a vehicle maintenance shop or facility
  • Strong background in mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with asset management and electronic corrective maintenance programs, preferably Maximo
  • Valid driver's license issued in the United States
  • Able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
