Overview

Tissue Specimen Processing and Analysis Job Description:

  • Under the direction of a pathologist, this role involves overseeing the histology laboratory to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Responsibilities include processing tissue specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by using various methods such as fixing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting.
  • The successful candidate will consult with pathologists regarding difficult analysis or abnormal findings and maintain open communication with supervisor, pathologists, and co-workers to ensure optimal department operation.
  • Additional duties include providing and recording instrument preventative maintenance, performing immunohistochemical testing, and ensuring accurate patient information and accession numbers.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Biomedical Science with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent.
  • Experience in histology is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of staining and photographic techniques for specimens is required.
  • A team player with good working and learning attitude, interpersonal, and communication skills is essential.
