MINDS is a leading charity in Singapore that has been caring for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PWIDs) and their families since 1962. Grounded in the belief that all PWIDs have innate abilities and talents, MINDS is committed to empowering them and enhancing their quality of life.
The Life Coach plays a pivotal role in training and well-being of PwIDs towards independence. Using a person-centred approach, he/she works towards improving their independent living and confidence to access the community with the final goal of enhancing the client's quality of life.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Providing training, support, and activities that help clients manage their community living needs and achieve goals set in care plans.
- Guiding and providing clients with information on social support services available at other organisations
- Responding to challenging behaviours of clients
- Recommending measures to mitigate risk to clients
- Developing training materials
- Administering Future Care Plans and ensuring proper documentation
- Contributing to the design and conduct of social, recreational and educational activities to promote independence, health, wellness, and quality of life
Required Skills and Qualifications include:
- Minimum Diploma
- Disability Studies and special education will be an advantage
Additional Requirements include:
- Self-motivated and fully able to participate in on-site and off-site activities
- Basic First Aid will be an advantage
