We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research scientist to join our team at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) in Singapore. Our research group, led by Assistant Professor Guan Xue Li, focuses on understanding the roles of microbial lipids in human health and antimicrobial resistance.
Lipidomics is an essential aspect of our research, and we employ an integrated systems biology approach to study the complex repertoire of bacterial lipids. Our goal is to identify lipid metabolic networks that can be modulated for treatment of infections.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of investigators, clinical and industry partners, as well as the wider lipidomics community. This position will expose the candidate to state-of-the-art technologies for lipidomics/metabolomics, other leading edge research facilities in LKCMedicine and NTU, and access to clinical samples, including bacterial isolates from human patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate actively in research on microbial lipids and antimicrobial resistance
- Conduct data computation, analyses, and interpretations
- Manage projects and oversee their progress
- Prepare manuscripts for publication and deliver conference presentations
- Assist in project applications and the acquisition of funding
- Supervise students and staff, ensuring their development and growth
- Participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance processes
- Ensure the smooth administration of research projects and compliance with institutional requirements
- PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, although recent graduates with the right aptitude may be considered
- Experience in bioanalytical techniques and mass spectrometry-based lipidomics
- Proficiency in bioinformatics and/or biostatistics for lipidomics data and pathway analysis
- In-depth knowledge of lipid metabolism
- Experience in microbiology is desirable
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- A high level of self-motivation, with minimal supervision required
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with fluency in spoken and written English
- A proven track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals
- Ability to supervise students and staff, working collaboratively within a team environment
We offer a competitive salary range of SGD $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance, annual leave, and opportunities for professional development.
