Job Title: R&D Automation Engineer

At IBA, we are seeking a highly skilled R&D Automation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Automation Engineering Team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions for our cutting-edge proton therapy systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the analysis of automation projects and the definition of hardware and software specifications.
  • Develop software by analyzing, programming, testing, and putting into service related control systems, ensuring that project documentation is in line with our internal QMS procedures and guidelines.
  • Own and manage a 'control unit' and its related software solutions, ensuring the development follow-up, preparing work packages, and being responsible for the whole quality.
  • Provide high-level technical support after the start-up of the systems.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Automation Engineering or Industrial IT.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operation, support, and development.
  • PLC programming skills, with experience in Siemens STEP7 and TIA Portal, B&R.
  • Communication skills in English and French.
  • Based in Louvain-La-Neuve, open to travel internationally for short missions.
  • Having a driving license (B type).
Nice to Have:
  • SCADA programming in Wonderware Archestra, Wonderware InTouch, B&R Visual Component.
  • Industrial IT programming (.Net, Python, SQL, Web).
  • Programming of Safety PLC (Siemens, B&R).
  • Good understanding of Industrial communications based on Profibus-DP, PROFINET, ModbusTCP, S7, OPC-UA, and other industrial protocols.
  • Knowledge of motor drivers and motion systems (SEW, Schneider Electric, B&R).
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
  • Knowledge of VMWare environment (ESX, Workstation).
  • Good knowledge of MS Office suite.
