EDI Specialist Job Description

The EDI Specialist plays a pivotal role in the architecture, design, enhancement, and support of our electronic data interchange (EDI) communication platform. This platform is built on IBM Sterling Business Integrator (SBI), a robust solution that facilitates seamless communication with trading partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and maintain the SBI platform to ensure it remains stable, scalable, and performs optimally.
  • Improve framework architecture and communication protocols (AS2, POP3/SMTP, SFTP, FTP) to guarantee platform stability and scalability.
  • Monitor system performance and stability, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to address issues.
  • Take ownership of critical incidents, coordinating investigations and driving resolution to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure proper documentation, testing, and quality control for all enhancements and fixes.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Approximately 5 years of experience managing and enhancing SBI-based systems, supporting time-critical EDI applications, and assisting with EDI partner setups.
  • Strong expertise in IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (SBI), including transmission protocols, setup, log analysis, and hands-on experience with version 6; knowledge of IBM ITX Mapper is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of EDI communication protocols and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Proficient in Oracle SQL/PL-SQL; experience with Oracle 19+ is advantageous.
