About the Team

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) is home to two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers a wide range of topics from pure mathematics to applications in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics.

Job Responsibilities

As a researcher, you will be responsible for experimental design and data analysis, theoretical models and numerical calculations, and lab organization and training. You will also have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project focused on the collective motion of bacteria and mechanics of bacterial colonies and biofilms.

Requirements
  • PhD degree in biophysics, soft matter physics, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in experimental techniques such as microscopy, microfluidics, or rheology OR molecular dynamics simulation or agent-based simulation.
  • Competent in soft skills such as information visualization, oral presentation, etc.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
