Robotics Design Engineer Role

As a skilled Mechanical Designer, you will lead the development of mechanical components for cutting-edge robotics systems. You'll be responsible for creating 3D models and designs using CATIA or similar software, and oversee the prototyping process from initial concepts to final product validation.

This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative robotics solutions that meet customer needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • CAD & Assembly Design: Create complex 3D parts and multibody assemblies using CATIA or similar CAD software.
  • Prototyping: Oversee the creation of prototypes through 3D printing, CNC machining, and early mechanical fit-checks.
  • Engineering Validation: Run tolerance studies, FEA (stress, thermal, modal), and kinematic simulations to ensure design integrity.
  • 2D Drawings: Create detailed production drawings with GD&T and inspection-critical features.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & Supplier Engagement: Lead DFM reviews and work closely with suppliers to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Cross-Team Integration: Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and validation teams on integrated electromechanical design.
  • Test & Iteration: Define mechanical validation plans, analyze failure data, and improve mechanical robustness.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design for electromechanical products.
  • Expert proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent CAD software.
  • Strong track record in plastic injection molding, sheet metal, and die-casting.
  • Proficient in GD&T, 2D drawing generation, and DFM best practices.
  • Experience running and interpreting FEA simulations.
Preferred Skills
  • Python scripting for CAD automation or data processing.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB for modeling and tolerance stack-up.
  • Robotics or wearable systems experience (mechanical integration, ergonomics).
  • Hands-on with prototyping tools: 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC.
  • Strong communication skills for technical collaboration and supplier discussions.
