Job Description:

The Special Needs Educator plays a pivotal role in delivering customized educational programs tailored to the unique learning needs of students with special requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by collaborating with specialists and families to design and personalize plans for each student, ensuring alignment with their goals and addressing academic, social, and behavioral needs.
  • Design differentiated lesson plans to cater to various learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize innovative teaching methods, including assistive technology, to meet diverse student needs.
  • Facilitate individual and group learning sessions, promoting engagement and support.
Progress Monitoring and Assessment:
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and document learning outcomes.
  • Maintain detailed records of each student's academic performance, key observations, and behavioral progress.
  • Provide data-driven insights to refine student learning plans.
Classroom Management and Safety:
  • Establish a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters active learning.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe learning space.
  • Address challenging behaviors using evidence-based interventions.
Daily Care and Support:
  • Assist students with personal care tasks as needed while maintaining their dignity and independence.
  • Supervise and monitor students during activities to ensure their safety.
  • Follow established health and safety protocols to prevent accidents and maintain a safe learning environment.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work closely with therapists and other educators to provide coordinated student care.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress, share resources, and collaborate on strategies.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents or caregivers to inform them of their child's progress.
Professional Development and Engagement:
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices in special education.
  • Participate in peer observation, mentorship, and feedback sessions to refine teaching methodologies.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with parents by providing resources and strategies for supporting their child's learning at home.
Shift Duties and Preparation:
  • Perform shift duties, including preparing classrooms and ensuring safety procedures are followed.
