Job Overview:

Ceramic Artisan and Instructor

Are you a skilled ceramic technician with experience in teaching? Do you have a passion for creating beautiful pieces of art? We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Ceramic Artisan and Instructor.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and teach ceramics classes to students of various skill levels.
  • Plan and execute exhibitions and events, including artist workshops.
  • Operate and maintain kilns, ensuring the firing of ceramic pieces is done efficiently and safely.
  • Produce AIA ceramic products for retail purposes, utilizing your creativity and technical skills.
  • Set up, clean, and demonstrate the use of equipment and instruments, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate inventories, ordering supplies according to established procedures.
  • Ensure a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in 3D art-related field, with emphasis on pottery.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ceramics, including throwing, trimming, and glazing techniques.
  • Ability to create high-quality sake sets and teapot sets.
  • Teaching experience an asset.
  • Passion for working in the ceramics industry.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with flexibility to work weekends and public holidays.
  • Attention to detail, with strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
