Job Overview

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) is committed to fostering a vibrant research environment that promotes inter-disciplinary collaboration. As a Senior Research Fellow, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on advancing sustainable materials science.

This role involves developing innovative mechanical or chemical polymer upcycling technologies, particularly for polyurethane. The successful candidate will possess expertise in hands-on characterization techniques, such as TGA, DSC, FTIR, DMA, rheology, NMR, CHNS, XRD, XPS, and engineering design.

We are seeking an exceptional individual with a PhD degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. A minimum of 6-8 years of graduate study or working experience in research and development on topics related to polymer science, chemical engineering, and green technologies is required.

Key responsibilities include conducting lab-scale and pilot-scale experiments, formulating problem statements, designing and executing experiments, sample characterizations, data analysis, and preparing technical reports, intellectual properties documents, safety documents, and academic publications.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • PhD degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
  • At least 6-8 years of graduate study or working experience in research and development on topics related to polymer science, chemical engineering, and green technologies
  • Proficiency in hands-on and characterization techniques such as TGA, DSC, FTIR, DMA, rheology, NMR, CHNS, XRD, XPS, engineering design, and drawing
  • Leadership roles in handling and managing multi-disciplinary projects
  • Preparation of academic and pilot-operation proposals
