Ceramics Studio Manager Position

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Ceramics Studio Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our ceramics studio.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and mentor students in various skill levels through engaging lesson plans and classes: Develop instructional materials and conduct classes to teach ceramics skills.
  • Plan exhibitions and events, including artist workshops: Organize and execute successful exhibitions and events that showcase local artists' work and provide opportunities for them to share their skills with others.
  • Manage kiln loading and unloading, as well as firing of ceramic pieces: Ensure proper kiln operation, including loading, unloading, and firing at correct temperatures and durations.
  • Design and produce AIA ceramic products for retail purposes: Create visually appealing ceramic products that meet retailers' and consumers' requirements.
  • Maintain equipment, instruments, workspace, and supplies: Set up, clean, and demonstrate equipment usage to students and colleagues.
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies according to purchasing procedures: Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure efficient studio operation.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by maintaining regular upkeep of work areas, equipment, supplies, and materials: Regularly inspect and clean the workspace, equipment, and supplies, ensuring all materials are properly stored and secured.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education:
  • Hold a diploma or degree in 3D art-related qualifications, especially pottery: Possess a strong foundation in ceramics and 3D art principles.
  • Skills:
  • Have intermediate knowledge of ceramics techniques (throwing, trimming, and glazing): Possess a solid understanding of ceramics processes.
  • Able to create high-quality ceramic pieces (e.g., sake sets and teapot sets): Demonstrate skills and experience in creating desirable ceramic pieces.
  • Experience in teaching ceramics is an advantage: Have taught ceramics to students with varying skill levels.
  • Personal Qualities:
  • Be passionate about working in the ceramics industry: Show enthusiasm and dedication to ceramics.
  • Exhibit responsibility and organizational skills: Demonstrate a high level of responsibility and organizational abilities.
