**Job Title:** Veterinary Specialist

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality emergency and critical care to small animals and exotic species, working scheduled shifts with flexibility.
• Lead daily inpatient rounds at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure continuity of care and team collaboration.
• Provide expert consultations for emergency cases presented during day and night shifts, utilizing strong diagnostic skills.
• Conduct thorough physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and advanced medical treatments, staying up-to-date with latest advancements.
• Perform emergency surgical procedures and appropriate diagnostic interventions, such as TFAST/AFAST, radiography, endoscopy, CT scans, and bloodwork, with precision and attention to detail.
• Interpret diagnostic findings to develop and implement effective treatment plans, considering patient needs and safety.
• Stabilize and manage patients with trauma, toxic exposures, and acute medical conditions, requiring calm and decisive decision-making.
• Prescribe and administer pharmaceuticals based on diagnostics and clinical evaluation, prioritizing patient well-being.
• Collaborate closely with veterinary technicians, support staff, and specialty teams to deliver multidisciplinary care and achieve shared goals.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnostics, treatment options, prognosis, and home care instructions, ensuring understanding and satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive patient medical records, including clinical notes, diagnoses, and therapeutic plans, adhering to professional standards.
• Facilitate interdepartmental transfers to relevant specialists and coordinate follow-up care, fostering seamless communication and teamwork.
• Refer cases to external specialists when necessary, providing timely updates and discharge summaries to referring veterinarians, promoting a culture of collaboration.
• Manage a fast-paced and high-volume caseload while maintaining professional standards under pressure, showcasing adaptability and resilience.
• Ensure compliance with veterinary ethical standards and internal medical protocols, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with advancements in emergency veterinary care, enhancing expertise and knowledge.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior team members and contribute to creating a collaborative ECC team environment, promoting growth and learning.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in small animal and/or exotic emergency and critical care practice, demonstrating expertise and confidence.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment, promoting effective teamwork and patient care.
• Certification in Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) is highly desirable and considered an asset, reflecting dedication to professional growth and excellence.
• Proficiency or experience in endoscopy and/or gastroscopy is advantageous, showcasing versatility and skill.
• Veterinary degree must be recognized by the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVA) in Singapore, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
