Job Description

We are looking for a resourceful journalist to join our team in producing original features that are hyperlocal, human-driven, timely and relevant. The ideal candidate will be someone who is proactive, passionately digging, investigating, pitching, and pursuing stories that matter.

The role requires strong initiative and news instincts, and the ability to think beyond the obvious. An experienced journalist with at least 3-4 years of experience in journalism, news, or longform content will be a great fit.

The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills, with the ability to engage readers from the first line. They will also have strong interviewing skills and be able to put sources at ease.

Other key responsibilities include cultivating and maintaining contacts who can help surface underreported stories, conducting interviews, reporting, writing and packaging stories with colour, context and a clear editorial angle, working with the assistant editor to shape story direction and ensuring quality and accuracy, and occasionally supporting special projects or the daily news cycle.
