Lead Research Director for Child Health Initiatives

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites exceptional researchers to apply for the position of Programme Leader. As a key member of the Early Mental Potential & Wellbeing Research (EMPOWER) Centre, you will provide scientific leadership and contribute to cutting-edge research in child health.
The EMPOWER Centre's mission is to maximise every child's mental and emotional capital by uplifting neurodevelopmental trajectories during early sensitive periods through interdisciplinary discovery science and translational technologies. The Centre has three major activities and thrusts: Core Discovery Research, Clinic & Pedagogy, and Real-World Technologies.
We are looking for scientists with exceptional promise to join the Centre as Programme Leaders. Up to three outstanding candidates will be appointed to the rank of Fellow/Senior Fellow/Principal Fellow as commensurate with experience. Eligible applicants will additionally be nominated to apply for the University Research Assistant Professorship scheme and may hold this rank for the duration of their appointment with the Centre.
The EMPOWER Centre's current portfolio of research is worth in excess of SGD$20 mil (USD$15 mil). Programme Leaders will be expected to provide scientific leadership for on-going basic research, translational and commercial programmes in child health under the Centre's remit. Indicatively, we are looking to appoint one Programme Leader to oversee and expand each of the Centre's core thrusts. Programme Leader will be supported to develop own research programme and to obtain independent research funding, within the EMPOWER remit.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with the Centre's Director, Professor Victoria Leong, as well as with local and international collaborators, as part of a diverse and talented international research team. They will also assist with supervision and teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide scientific leadership for on-going basic research, translational and commercial programmes in child health under the Centre's remit;
- To oversee and expand each of the Centre's core thrusts;
- To develop own research programme and to obtain independent research funding, within the EMPOWER remit;
- Assist with supervision and teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- PhD degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Computational, Technological, Clinical, Educational or other fields related to EMPOWER's remit;
- Strong track record of research publication, commensurate to career stage;
- Evidence of research leadership or strong potential to become an independent research leader;
- Experience with teaching and supervision;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Efficient, organized, and a good team player;
- Self-motivated and able to motivate others.
The estimated salary range for this position is SGD $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
