Job Description

The successful candidate will oversee technology risks associated with cloud adoption, DevOps practices, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

They will collaborate closely with technology teams, enterprise risk, internal audit, and other stakeholders to ensure that emerging risks are well understood, governed, and effectively managed.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in cloud security and application development risk, a strong understanding of governance practices in complex environments, and the ability to influence technology risk culture across the organisation.

This is a permanent role based directly with our client.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technology Risk Oversight: Provide independent challenge and risk insights on 1st Line controls and cloud architecture, particularly across public cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure). Assess risks across the application development lifecycle, including secure coding practices, code quality, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.
  • Work with technology teams to identify, assess, and monitor emerging technology risks, and recommend appropriate mitigations.
  • Governance and Frameworks: Contribute to the enhancement of technology risk governance framework, policies, and control standards. Develop and maintain risk metrics and reporting to track control effectiveness, incidents, and residual risks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to IT leadership, providing risk-based recommendations aligned to business priorities. Partner with Line 1 Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Cybersecurity teams to support a cohesive risk oversight model.
Requirements:
  • 10-15+ years of experience in technology risk, cybersecurity, cloud engineering, or DevOps governance, ideally within financial services or regulated sectors.
  • Strong understanding of public cloud architectures, cloud-native controls, and security principles (e.g., IAM, encryption, logging, container security).
  • Familiarity with SDLC, Agile/DevOps pipelines, and associated risks across the software development ecosystem.
  • Hands-on experience with control frameworks such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, and Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, AWS/GCP/Azure certifications, or SANS credentials are preferred.
