Cloud and Application Risk Manager Job

This is a senior-level role that requires expertise in cloud security, application development risk, and governance practices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in cloud security and application development risk, a strong understanding of governance practices in complex environments, and the ability to influence technology risk culture across the organisation.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for providing oversight and challenge on technology risks associated with cloud adoption, DevOps practices, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • They will collaborate closely with technology teams, enterprise risk, internal audit, and other stakeholders to ensure that emerging risks are well understood, governed, and effectively managed.
Key Responsibilities:Technology Risk Oversight
  • Provide independent challenge and risk insights on 1st Line controls and cloud architecture, particularly across public cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Assess risks across the application development lifecycle, including secure coding practices, code quality, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.
Governance and Frameworks
  • Contribute to the enhancement of technology risk governance framework, policies, and control standards.
  • Develop and maintain risk metrics and reporting to track control effectiveness, incidents, and residual risks.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a trusted advisor to IT leadership, providing risk-based recommendations aligned to business priorities.
  • Partner with Line 1 Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Cybersecurity teams to support a cohesive risk oversight model.
Requirements:Skill Set:
  • 10-15+ years of experience in technology risk, cybersecurity, cloud engineering, or DevOps governance, ideally within financial services or regulated sectors.
  • Strong understanding of public cloud architectures, cloud-native controls, and security principles (e.g., IAM, encryption, logging, container security).
  • Familiarity with SDLC, Agile/DevOps pipelines, and associated risks across the software development ecosystem.
  • Hands-on experience with control frameworks such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, and Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).
Certifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, AWS/GCP/Azure certifications, or SANS credentials are preferred.
