This role is part of a NRF CREATE-funded project focusing on developing soft active grippers for industrial applications. The successful candidate will work on coating development, applying these coatings to soft grippers and demonstrating their performance in real-world scenarios.

The School of Materials Science and Engineering offers an interdisciplinary research environment with opportunities to work on various projects including computational materials science, biomaterials, nanomaterials, and sustainable materials.

To be successful in this position, you will need to have a PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field. Strong skills in peptide synthesis and self-assembly are required, as well as knowledge of coatings, interfaces, and electrochemistry. Experience with device fabrication, soft robotics, or stretchable devices is advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to handle complex tasks. Interdisciplinary expertise and a passion for innovation are essential for this role.

Job Requirements:
