Job Title: Structure Specialist

About the Role:

This is a key position responsible for overseeing and coordinating all structural assembly, adjustments, and installation works within the yard. The successful candidate will be in charge of planning, prioritizing, and supervising carry-over works by module, ensuring timely completion and seamless integration with other disciplines.

Responsibilities:
  • Complete outstanding structural assembly and adjustments as per project specifications.
  • Install remaining stairways, platforms, supports, and auxiliary equipment, adhering to safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Resolve punch list items related to structures and outfitting, identifying and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee all carry-over works by module, ensuring achievement of project milestones and integration of activities across all disciplines.
  • Track and report daily work progress to the Yard Manager, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively.
  • Ensure that repair, conversion, and construction jobs defined in specifications are performed in accordance with schedule set by the Project Manager, upholding high-quality standards.
  • Appoint approved subcontractors in consultation with Subcontracts Department and Yard Manager, authorizing purchase of equipment, spares, and materials as needed.
  • Ensure records of work done are copied to billing and project manager for their follow-up actions, promoting transparency and accountability.
  • Respond to customer complaints and take corrective and preventive actions on errors of staff, subcontractors, and suppliers, demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Implement and maintain Safety Management and Quality Management Systems, fostering a culture of safety and excellence within the team.
  • Communicate progress, highlights, and priorities between Hull Shop and Hull Afloat, ensuring effective collaboration and coordination.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in Marine Engineering or related engineering disciplines, with a strong foundation in technical principles and practices.
  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience in FPSO EPC projects, with a proven track record of delivering complex structural projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, plan tools/equipment/material take-off, prepare project schedules, and input manpower loading, demonstrating technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to go on overseas assignments (2-3 months) and adapt to diverse work environments, showcasing flexibility and a growth mindset.
  • Understanding of yard's various functional systems, ship repair knowledge, and related commercial matters, ensuring a deep appreciation for the broader context.
  • Good degree of planning, organisation, control, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, communication, and people management skills required, with a focus on leadership and collaboration.
  • Good knowledge in standards and class requirements on various works in ship repair industry, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
  • Good knowledge on safety requirements and standards for various works carried out in the yard, prioritizing employee safety and well-being.
  • Possess skill to assess cost and time required for additional works, making informed decisions and optimizing resources.
