Project Director

This role is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of vessel repair projects. Ensuring timely completion and meeting quality standards are paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to deliver vessel repairs effectively.
• Coordinate activities with engineering, procurement, production, quality control, and external stakeholders to achieve project goals.
• Act as a single point of contact, managing daily interactions with clients, vendors, technical teams, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless communication.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

• Track and analyze daily/weekly progress to forecast schedules, budgets, and deliverables, enabling proactive decision-making.
• Organize review meetings, prepare reports, meeting minutes, manage documentation, final technical deliverables, and project closure to ensure transparency and accountability.

Budgetary Control & Commercial Management:

• Monitor project costs closely to meet budgetary targets and manage variation orders or changes due to scope adjustments, maintaining financial discipline.
• Handle invoicing, accruals, and finances in coordination with budget and finance teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Risk Management & Safety Compliance:

• Conduct risk assessments, identify potential project delays, and implement mitigation plans to minimize risks and ensure project delivery.
• Enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance, including HSE and classification society requirements, to maintain a safe working environment.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Lead diverse teams (project managers, engineers, supervisors), allocate tasks, and mentor staff to enhance team performance and capabilities.
• Collaborate with clients, manage expectations, and maintain stakeholder satisfaction through effective communication and relationship-building.

Technical Expertise & Regulatory Knowledge:

• Interpret and apply technical contract documents, drawings, specifications, and marine rules to ensure compliance and successful project delivery.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

• Ensure all project work adheres to quality standards, classification, and safety guidelines and industry policies, maintaining a high level of quality and integrity.
• Oversee documentation control throughout the project lifecycle to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Requirements include 10 years of experience in marine engineering vessel repair project management, understanding of vessel detail design, solid knowledge of marine classification societies, and skilled in project scheduling, cost control, and execution oversight. Skills in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, and proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project are advantageous.
