Ship Structural Designer

We are seeking a skilled Ship Structural Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting hull structure strength assessments and analyses, proposing methods to strengthen the structure, including load spreading and securing of project cargo.

You will prepare analysis reports, structure plans, lashing calculations, stowage plans, securing plans, dunnage plans, heavy lifting plans for project cargo to owners, charterers, shippers, shipmasters, and classes for approval.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hull structure strength assessments and analyses
  • Propose methods to strengthen the structure
  • Prepare analysis reports and structure plans
  • Develop lashing calculations, stowage plans, securing plans, and dunnage plans
  • Coordinate with owners, charterers, shippers, shipmasters, and classes for approvals

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Marine Engineering or Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of work experience as a Structure/Basic Design Engineer in a shipyard or marine engineering company
  • Hands-on use of Autocad system or similar cad system to produce design drawings
  • Experience with Femap & Nastran structure analysis software or similar software
  • Familiarity with cargo lashing design, DNV's Lashcon or similar software
  • Ability to provide sound structure design work and produce realistic and executable plans
