About Our Role

We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to provide emotional support and therapeutic guidance to children, youth, and families in our community programs.

This role emphasizes collaboration with our team to develop care plans and implement effective interventions.


Key Responsibilities:
• Provide individual and group counselling sessions to clients dealing with trauma, family conflict, and behavioural challenges.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups focused on coping skills, social-emotional learning, and trauma management.
• Work closely with social workers and psychologists to assess client needs and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Document sessions and contribute to case reviews to ensure optimal client outcomes.
• Support crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed to maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

Masters degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counselling, or a related field (eligible for accreditation with SAC or equivalent).


Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in counselling, preferably working with cases involving child protection, trauma, or out-of-home care, and have experience working with children, youth, or families.


Skills:

Training in modalities like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Play Therapy.


Ability to engage clients with complex needs effectively. No supervisory responsibilities; focus on direct client work.

Work Environment:
