Technical Broadcast Operations Specialist

">Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the core technical facilities of the broadcasting station, ensuring seamless acquisition and transmission of live and recorded media. This involves receiving feeds through fiber and satellite, shuffling audio as per house format, and providing live event sources to the transmitter.

This role requires strong knowledge of audio-visual technology, including video formats, multi-language audio tracks, and understanding equipment setups and troubleshooting. The incumbent will also be responsible for uploading ingest schedules into ingest schedulers, checking live feeds routed properly to ingest applications, testing audio and video quality, and operating technical facilities for acquiring live feeds via satellite, fiber, or IP technology.

Additionally, the Technical Broadcast Operations Specialist will monitor servers, storage, network switches, power supplies, and other equipment, undertake quality control and transcoding of incoming streams or package transfers to media servers, regularly update station routers as per event schedules, identify and resolve issues, and ensure error-free feed venue coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive various feeds through fiber and satellite, shuffle audio through MMS clients as per house format, and provide live event sources to transmitters.
  • Strong knowledge of audio-visual (AV) technology involves video formats, multi-language audio tracks, understanding equipment, setups, and troubleshooting for audio and visual systems.
  • Upload ingest schedules into ingest schedulers.
  • Check all ingest live feeds routed properly to ingest applications.
  • Test audio and video quality of given links during live telecasts.
  • Operate and communicate with core technical facilities for acquisition of live feeds via satellite, fiber, or IP technology.
  • Monitor servers, storage, network switches, power supplies, and other equipment.
  • Undertake quality control and transcoding of all incoming streams or package transfers to media servers.
  • Regularly update station routers as per event schedules.
  • Identify and resolve issues, and take immediate preventative action to restore traffic.
  • Coordinate feed venues for error-free transmission.
  • Conduct routine checks and maintenance of master control room (MCR) equipment, including FMS servers, routers, buzzers, and monitoring tools.
  • Document shift reports, technical incidents, and resolutions for future reference.
  • Ensure monitoring and adjustment of incoming feeds according to broadcasting standards and follow statutory compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of conducting live events and managing multiple tasks.
  • Fluent English speaker and able to communicate effectively in writing.
  • Able to report technical issues through clear diagrams.
  • Should be able to translate user requirements into technical requirements and technical specifications.
  • Should be able to work in a team and must be deadline-driven.
  • Able to deal with frequent changes and remain calm under pressure.
  • Should be able to analyze problems, determine root causes, and provide solutions.
  • Ability to perform in rotation shifts.
