Principal Researcher in Microprotein Detection
3 weeks ago
We are pioneering cutting-edge research at the intersection of proteogenomics and artificial intelligence, seeking innovative solutions to uncover novel microproteins encoded by the dark proteome. Our lab focuses on identifying and characterising small Open Reading Frames (smORFs), which play a critical role in fundamental biological processes.
Microproteins have a profound impact on human health and disease, influencing metabolic regulation, energy homeostasis, inflammatory signalling pathways, immune responses, and cardiac function. We investigate their roles in metabolic disorders, cellular energy metabolism, chronic inflammation, and inflammatory diseases, with direct implications for improving human health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop computational pipelines integrating ribosome profiling, transcriptomics, and metabolomics data
- Apply AI-driven approaches to predict functionally important microproteins
- Lead multi-omics dataset analysis to prioritise disease-relevant microprotein candidates
- Design prediction models to identify microproteins involved in metabolism, inflammation, and heart disease
- Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to validate predictions and refine models
- Contribute to algorithm development for improved microprotein detection and functional annotation
- Participate in commercialisation activities and innovation development
- Presents findings at international conferences and prepare manuscripts for high-impact publications
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages
- Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis, particularly Ribo-seq
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning methods
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain computational pipelines
- Strong publication record in computational biology or related fields
You will work closely with our team to advance cutting-edge research and drive impactful discoveries. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of proteogenomics and artificial intelligence, we encourage you to apply.
