This exciting opportunity is for a highly motivated Research Fellow to contribute to pioneering efforts in proteogenomics and artificial intelligence. Our team focuses on identifying and characterizing small Open Reading Frames (smORFs), which are critical regulators of fundamental biological processes.

These previously overlooked molecules play a crucial role in orchestrating metabolic regulation, energy homeostasis, inflammatory signalling pathways, immune responses, and cardiac function. Their impact extends to core cellular processes, including mitochondrial function, cellular stress responses, and cell-cell communication.

We aim to understand how these small yet powerful regulators shape human health and disease. Our research explores their roles in metabolic disorders, cellular energy metabolism, chronic inflammation, and inflammatory diseases. We also investigate their potential as therapeutic targets in cardiovascular disease.

This research sits at the intersection of basic science and translational medicine, with direct implications for improving human health.

  • Develop innovative computational pipelines integrating ribosome profiling (Ribo-seq), transcriptomics, and metabolomics data.
  • Apply and enhance existing smORF identification tools while developing novel AI-driven approaches to predict functionally important microproteins.
  • Lead the computational analysis of multi-omics datasets to prioritize disease-relevant microprotein candidates.
  • Design prediction models to identify microproteins involved in metabolism, inflammation, and heart disease.
  • Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to validate computational predictions and refine prediction models.
  • Contribute to the development of new algorithms for improved microprotein detection and functional annotation.
  • Participate in commercialization activities and innovation development.
  • Present findings at international conferences and prepare manuscripts for high-impact publications.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field. A strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and data analysis is essential.
