Claims Executive Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Claims Executive to join our team in a permanent capacity. The successful candidate will possess enthusiasm, a quick learning ability, and a desire for growth within a supportive organization.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage claims files with meticulous care, adhering to current procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate estimates for each claim.
  • Prepare reports, including agenda notes, notifications to reinsurers, and Club circulars.
  • Collaborate with the Loss Prevention department, the Head of Claims – Singapore, and relevant Underwriters to identify trends and develop effective solutions.
  • Notify in writing of large claims.
  • Share knowledge and expertise across the Claims team and department.
  • Develop necessary skills and knowledge through training and development activities.
  • Work with Underwriters to identify business opportunities and retain existing clients.
  • Support the Head of Claims – Singapore and Claims Managers with ad-hoc projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

A solid foundation in International Group P&I Club principles, structures, and finances is essential.

  • Familiarity with the International Group P&I Clubs' approach to claims handling.
  • Detailed understanding of shipping law fundamentals and its application.
Key Skills:
  • Ability to write comprehensive agenda notes and reports.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to:
    • Appoint correspondents, lawyers, and experts as needed.
    • Evaluate evidence and analyze liability and quantum.
    • Negotiate and settle claims by negotiation or litigation.
  • Confidently engage with Members and brokers during visits related to claims.
