We are seeking an experienced Port Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe execution of vessel and shore cargo operations at Pasir Panjang Port/Jurong Port.
Your primary objective will be to supervise and coordinate all aspects of cargo handling, including loading and discharging, to achieve the quickest possible turn-around time.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support and assistance in coordinating and controlling shipboard operational matters.
- Liaise with PSA Port Control to allocate yard space for cargo loading and/or discharging.
- Collaborate with Masters, Principals, Contractors, Shippers, and Consignees to ensure smooth vessel operations and quick turnaround times.
- Take delivery of cargo from shippers and consignees.
- Plan safe routes for cargo operations and assign duties accordingly.
- Conduct job briefings prior to each cargo operation.
- Supervise the loading and/or discharging of cargo.
- Monitor and ensure that correct operating methods are used during cargo loading and/or discharging.
- Inspect and supervise cargo stowage and/or discharge inside the hatch.
- Ensure that cargo is stored at allocated spaces within the port.
- Assist physically with stevedores in loading and discharging cargo to/from vessels.
- Oversee the labeling of cargo discharged by vessels.
- Manage the tagging and accounting for keys to motor vehicles discharged by vessels.
- Verify and check the accuracy of shipping documentation presented and prevent any short-shipping or short-landing of cargo.
- Prepare shift operations reports and input them into the computer system before ending duty.
- Qualifications:
- GCE 'N' Level qualifications or higher.
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in cargo operations.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in computer software applications, specifically MS Office.
- Physical Demands:
- Able to lift heavy objects and stand for prolonged periods.
- Work Schedule:
- Able to work long and irregular hours, including late nights, weekends, and public holidays.
