Ceramics Studio Technician Job Description

Ceramic artists and technicians play a vital role in creating engaging lesson plans, teaching various pottery techniques, and designing exhibitions and events. We are seeking an experienced candidate to join our team as a Ceramics Studio Technician.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D art-related qualifications, especially pottery, and possess intermediate knowledge of ceramics, including throwing, trimming, and glazing techniques. A passion for working in the ceramics industry and delivering high-quality results is essential. Additionally, experience with teaching ceramics and excellent communication skills are highly valued.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Ceramics tutoring and class designing involve creating engaging lesson plans and teaching students various pottery techniques.
  • We are looking for someone to plan exhibitions and events, including artist workshops, which will showcase our ceramic products and provide a platform for artists to share their work.
  • Kiln loading and unloading, as well as firing of ceramic pieces, are crucial tasks that require attention to detail and safety protocols.
  • The ideal candidate will design and produce ceramic products for retail purposes, meeting the demands of our customers while maintaining our high standards.
  • Sets up, cleans, and demonstrates the use of equipment and instruments, ensuring a smooth learning experience for students.
  • Maintains inventories, orders supplies in accordance with purchasing procedures, and monitors the cleanliness and safety of the working environment.
  • A team player who can assist with other assigned ad-hoc duties is highly valued in this role.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Candidates with at least a diploma or degree in 3D art-related qualifications, especially pottery, are preferred.
  • Possess intermediate knowledge of ceramics, including throwing, trimming, and glazing techniques.
  • Able to create sake sets and teapot sets, demonstrating expertise in ceramic production.
  • Experience with teaching ceramics will be an absolute advantage, but not necessary.
  • Passionate about working in the ceramics industry and committed to delivering high-quality results.
  • Responsible, well-organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills and enjoy interacting with customers, providing excellent customer service.
  • A team player who can collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Willing to work over weekends and public holidays, flexible with scheduling needs.
  • Meticulous, good organizational, and documentation skills are essential for success in this role.
