Electrical Maintenance Specialist Position Summary

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and performing electrical distribution maintenance or construction work, or any combination thereof, under the supervision of the Assistant Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

The position involves working with voltages up to 4160 volts and requires hands-on installation and maintenance of overhead electrical lines in accordance with applicable codes. The candidate must have thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and the principles of electricity.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and be able to interact effectively with subordinates and other departments. They must also be willing and able to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods and participate in community programs such as cleaning-up around the station.

In addition to the above responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain effective communication between departments, represent the department as needed at operational meetings, and perform other duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current journeyman lineman license, completion of an apprenticeship program, or proof of holding a journeyman lineman union card is required
  • Minimum six years of experience in all phases of the lineman trade including rough wiring, power distribution wiring, installation and maintenance of power distribution systems, installation of conduit, and wiring of electrical equipment
  • Must have been in a lead, Foreman, or supervisory position for a minimum of two of the six years of experience
