Database Administration Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to fill this critical position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and administer PostgreSQL and Sybase database technologies, ensuring stability, performance, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and QA teams on schema design, CI/CD, and releases, providing expert guidance and support.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • At least 6 years of experience in enterprise production environments as a PostgreSQL/Sybase DBA;
  • Strong background in administration, configuration, upgrades, and patching of PostgreSQL & Sybase databases;
  • Proven knowledge of High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR) setups, ensuring business continuity and minimizing downtime;
  • Hands-on experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and index management, improving database efficiency and responsiveness;
  • Experience in incident, problem, and change management using the ITIL framework, ensuring effective issue resolution and minimal disruption to business operations;
  • Ability to monitor database health and troubleshoot issues using tools like pg_stat_statements, sp_who, and sp_lock;
  • Strong SQL scripting skills for backup, recovery, and database automation, reducing manual effort and increasing productivity;
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills, ensuring accurate and timely reporting and collaboration with stakeholders;
  • Familiarity with database security policies, encryption, and access controls, protecting sensitive data and preventing unauthorized access;
  • Scripting knowledge in Python, Shell, and T-SQL for automation, streamlining processes and reducing errors;
  • Exposure to DevOps/CI-CD pipelines and application release processes, ensuring smooth deployments and minimal downtime;
  • Experience with monitoring and visualization tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and pgBadger, providing real-time insights and metrics;
  • Involvement in migration projects between Sybase and PostgreSQL, demonstrating adaptability and expertise in multiple database platforms;
  • Cloud certification (AWS, Azure), highlighting technical expertise and versatility in cloud-based environments;
  • PostgreSQL/Sybase certifications – highly preferred, showcasing advanced knowledge and skills in these technologies.
