Our team in Singapore is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Director to lead our APAC engineering projects. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing the overall budget, plan, and schedule for our APAC engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the overall budget, plan, and schedule for APAC engineering projects.
  • Proactively follow through on engineering project execution, quality, risks, and issues, including the development of mitigation plans and escalation when necessary.
  • Coordinate and oversee the startup and commissioning of engineering projects, ensuring a streamlined transition from mechanical completion to operational startup.
  • Communicate project status to project teams, senior management, and other stakeholders in the APAC Region.
  • Manage, facilitate, and document weekly project status meetings.
  • Assure adherence to defined corporate and development processes in all scoped projects.
  • Provide feedback to functional/technical/regional/site/supply chain managers on the performance of local project supporting resources.
  • Support the APAC Region sites to ensure engineering compliance with local regulations and company requirements.

Budget Management:

  • Develop the APAC Region annual budget for Maintenance, Engineering, and Projects (Overall APAC CAPEX).
  • Manage capex budgets and expenditures through a formal allocation, control gate-keeping, and escalation process.
  • Review monthly APAC Region CAPEX financial statements for accuracy and explain significant variances between actual and budgeted results.

Team Management:

  • Develop a team where all members and points of view are respected.
  • Provide technical and engineering project support to engineering operations activities and employees in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Manage team members through performance management and coaching.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/chemical engineering.
  • 10 years of relevant regional Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing experience, preferably within the chemical industry.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of maintenance reliability improvement programs and experience in process control systems.
  • Project management capabilities to ensure quality of execution, schedule, and budget are within expectations.
  • Experience with Operational Excellence programs and Continuous Improvement in leadership and contributing roles.
  • Training and/or certification in Lean Six Sigma a plus.
  • Must have experience maintaining facility Environmental, Safety, and Health standards to minimize employee and community exposure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and manage regional cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to interface with internal & external customer contacts. Regional travel expected (15-25%).
