Tara Climate Ltd. is a leading international organization dedicated to solving the climate crisis through systemic change. We are seeking an experienced Senior Regional Energy Transition Strategist to join our team in the Tara region.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated professional with at least 10 years of experience in leadership positions, preferably in local or international foundations, donor agencies, NGOs, or clean energy-related companies or financial institutions.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the energy system and its interlinkages to climate change, as well as experience working in the Asia region. They should be able to maintain trusting professional relationships across different sectors and cultures, and have experience working with philanthropic funders or bilateral or multilateral donors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop forward-looking strategies to accelerate the energy transition in the region, analyzing where the region will need to be in five years' time on energy transition and supporting program teams to develop strategies fit for meeting future challenges.
- Identify emerging opportunities and challenges in the region, develop and implement regional thematic programs to complement national strategies, and contribute to an active international network of re-granters and strategists on the energy transition needs of the region.
- Lead the development and implementation of key regional energy transition strategies, working closely with Tara's program directors and partners.
- Manage a team of passionate and experienced program leads, providing them with guidance and empowering them to deliver impactful results.
Requirements:
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience, gained in either local or international foundations, donor agencies, NGOs, or clean energy-related companies or financial institutions;
- A good grasp of the energy system and its interlinkages to climate change, including an understanding of the barriers and opportunities for accelerating energy transition;
- At least 3+ years' experience in leadership positions, with experience managing experienced team members;
- Experience working in the Asia region;
- Demonstrated strategic thinking capabilities, and demonstrable ability to translate strategy into implementation;
- Demonstrated understanding of the role that civil society organizations play, especially in Asia;
- Demonstrated ability to maintain trusting professional relationships across different sectors, and a diverse group of partners, including many working in different cultural contexts;
- Experience working with philanthropic funders or bilateral or multilateral donors and an understanding of how to build and sustain a successful partner network a plus;
- Excellent written and oral English language skills and written and oral fluency in another Asian language preferable;
- Deep commitment to solving the climate crisis and enabling systemic change;
- Intrinsic motivation, excellent organizational and self-management skills;
- Deeply collaborative;
- Flexibility over working hours to accommodate global time zones;
- Willingness to travel both regionally and internationally;
- Impeccable ethics, and experience working confidentially and operating with high security;
- Advanced degree or relevant expertise in a relevant field such as international relations, strategic studies, environmental management, business administration, economics, or sustainable development.
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Location: The Tara region.
