Workplace Safety Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Workplace Safety Specialist. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the organization's compliance with external regulations and standards.

  • HSE Program Management: Develops, plans, organizes and manages the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Program for major projects
  • HSE Performance Evaluation: Monitors and evaluates the organization's overall HSE performance to identify recurring problems; researches, evaluates and recommends changes to technology, equipment, systems or processes that will improve the organization's HSE performance
  • Regulatory Compliance: Keeps up-to-date with proposed and actual changes in HSE regulations
  • Workplace Inspections: Ensures that work conditions meet the HSE requirements and programs in place
  • Training and Certification: Plans and coordinates the training and certification of personnel for safety
  • Risk Assessment: Coordinates and assures compliance with the Risk Assessment Processes
  • Safety Planning: Provides assistance to the site work process with safety planning and incident prevention
  • Sub-con Safety: Evaluating and reviewing sub-con safety program and procedure on site compliance
  • Construction Team: Functions as an integral part of the Construction Team. Assists in safety audits and safety evaluation process
  • Weekly Meetings: Assists in conducting weekly safety meetings
  • Safety Meetings: Attends safety/construction meetings and site inspection
  • Accident Reporting: Knows internal and external accident reporting requirements. Prompts and efficiently handles incident and accident investigation
  • HSE Reports: Maintains and completes project HSE reports and documentation
  • HSE Statistics: Collects, compiles, and reports HSE statistics for the project
  • Other Duties: Performs any other ad-hoc projects and duties as required by management
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in construction industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
