Job Title: Claims Handler

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Claims Handler to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about claims handling and has a strong background in shipping law.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling claims from start to finish, including investigating claims, evaluating evidence, and negotiating settlements. They will also be required to maintain accurate records and reports, and to work closely with other teams to ensure effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage claim files, including file husbandry and maintaining accurate estimates
  • Prepare reports, including agenda notes, notification to reinsurers, and Club circulars
  • Identify and evaluate evidence, analyse liability and quantum, and litigate, arbitrate, mediate or settle by negotiation
  • Confidently engage with and support Members/brokers during visits related to their claims

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A solid foundation and understanding of International Group P&I Club aims, objectives, structures and finances
  • A good working knowledge of the International Group P&I Clubs approach to claims to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Detailed understanding of the foundations of shipping law and its application
  • Competent in writing coherent and comprehensive agenda notes on own claims and reports to reinsurers
  • Able to confidently engage with and support Members/brokers during visits related to their claims
