- Curate and update the wine list featuring key regions from around the world.
- Develop a profitable wine strategy aligned with the restaurant's concept and clientele.
- Foster strong relationships with wine suppliers and source exclusive selections.
- Collaborate with the culinary team on wine pairings for seasonal menus.
- Provide professional wine presentation, explaining aromas, styles, and vintages.
- Host wine dinners, tastings, and private events to drive engagement.
- Train service staff on wine knowledge to enhance overall guest experience.
- Set wine sales targets and review performance with management.
- Oversee proper wine storage and manage inventory to reduce waste.
- Handle guest feedback, inquiries, and complaints graciously.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in sommelier or wine service.
- Formal wine certification (WSET, CMS, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of global wines, including sake and Japanese wine.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Passion for hospitality and guest interaction.
- Team player with a flexible, hands-on attitude.
- The ability to communicate in Mandarin or Japanese is an advantage.
